DigInnoCent Contributes to Seminar on Building Resilient Futures through Nature-Based Solutions

DigInnoCent s.r.o., coordinator of the Horizon Europe NATURE-DEMO project, participated in the international seminar Building Resilient Futures: Nature-Based Solutions for Multi-Hazard Risk Management, contributing to discussions on how nature-based approaches can strengthen resilience to climate-related hazards across Europe.

The seminar brought together researchers, policymakers, practitioners and project representatives to exchange knowledge on innovative strategies for reducing disaster risks while supporting environmental sustainability.

Promoting Integrated Risk Management

Representing the NATURE-DEMO consortium, DigInnoCent presented the project’s integrated methodology for assessing climate risks and implementing nature-based solutions across diverse geographical and environmental conditions.

The presentation demonstrated how NATURE-DEMO combines:

  • scientific risk assessment;

  • digital decision-support technologies;

  • stakeholder participation;

  • demonstration site implementation;

  • long-term monitoring and evaluation.

This holistic approach enables regional authorities and infrastructure managers to develop adaptation strategies that deliver environmental, social and economic benefits simultaneously.

Encouraging Cross-Sector Collaboration

A central theme of the seminar was the importance of collaboration between researchers, public authorities, infrastructure managers and local communities.

DigInnoCent shared experiences from coordinating an international consortium where multidisciplinary expertise is essential for designing effective and scalable nature-based solutions capable of addressing multiple hazards, including flooding, erosion and the impacts of climate change.

From Research to Practical Implementation

The seminar reinforced the growing recognition that nature-based solutions must be supported by robust scientific evidence, practical implementation experience and effective decision-support tools.

As coordinator of NATURE-DEMO, DigInnoCent continues to promote knowledge exchange and capacity building that help bridge the gap between research and implementation, supporting the wider adoption of innovative climate adaptation solutions across Europe.
